Frustrations Of A Nutritionist - Episode Multivitamins

" The best medical care will always emphasize enabling our bodies to heal themselves" - Dr. Atkins

I am a firm believer that when you provide your body with the right nutrition, your body can perform optimumly. Your immune system is better and you'll have more energy among other things.

In my everyday life and work, I do my best to advocate a healthy lifestyle and the best supplementations to enhance your life.

Your body needs both macro (carbs, protein and fat) and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals) to be healthy. Getting macronutrient is easy as we can get it from food but micronutrients are the problematic ones.

Of course we also get it from food but some of these vitamins and minerals are quite fragile and elusive. In the sense that the way the food is planted, processed, transported and prepared can destroy the nutrients. Vitamin C for example are easily oxidized.

In a simple biological explanation, if you have enough nutrients in your body, your cell can regenerate and grow healthily. And if your cells thus your organs are healthy, you will be healthy too.

Therefore it is important to take a good multivitamin because you will never know what is lacking.

Some might argue they eat balanced food, enough fruits and vege therefore don't need multivits. But how much is your enough and how sure are you that you get the right amount of food to provide that much of nutrients?

Yes you are fine, you wake up, you go to work without problem etc but is your body in the optimum condition? Are you always tired or you fall sick easily? or you sleep poorly? or your hair is thinning?

Those are the signs that your body is not in a optimum condition.

To give an example, I have a potted plant which I always water and face it to towards the sun. The plant is surviving. Later I bought a fertilizer and used it regularly. Slowly I see new leaves coming out. My plant is thriving!

The same goes to human.

Drugs is always the treatment of choice in the modern life, even for something petty like flu. And it baffles me that people would rather take medications than supplements to heal. They always argue that supplements are chemicals, bad for your liver and kidney etc. So you think drugs and most food and drinks that you consumed on daily basis is not chemical or at least free from chemical?

People must learn to differentiate between nutrients/supplements and drugs. Dr Atkins in his book Vita-Nutrient Solutions (using nutrients as a treatment of choice) mentioned that nutrients are enablers, they give your body a chance to do what it needs to do by facilitating a natural physiological process, thus causing the body to function better.

The effect isn't immediate, they perform best over the long term. That's why we always advise that supplements takes 2-3 months to work.

Drugs on the other hand are disablers or blocking agent. They work by preventing a normal process from taking place, usually an enzyme performing a vital role.

"For drugs to work, there must be a disease"

More often than not, I faced bodoh sombong and ignorant people both during work and social life.

Whenever I suggest multivits for people (both friends and customers) who complained they are always tired or are always down with petty illnesses like cough, cold, flu or fever, they look at me like i'm dumb.

"I want something for energy, not a multivits!"

It's all back to basic biology la. duhhhhh

Or they want something for hair loss.

Do you know one of the common reasons why your hair fall is because your body lacks in nutrients that is necessary for hair growth? Read THIS for more info on hair loss.

Or they always fall sick

According to THIS article, nutrient deficiency is the most frequent cause of a depressed immune system.  The article also recommends supplementations regime to improve your immune system.

So tuan-tuan dan puan-puan, don't think we are trying to sell you junks when we recommend multivitamins. Kami bukan suka-suka mau jual. It's based on science. Kami bukan cakap kosong. We read articles, nutritional books to provide you with the best recommendations.

Zaman moden semua orang ada smartphone, easy access to internet.

Tunggulah 2 bulan kemudian langsung tak nampak batang hidung ataupun buttcheeks. Eh? We got our package for 1050 Baht/pax which included transport to and fro hotel, lunch and refreshments, snorkeling equipment and covers Maya Bay (where the filming was), Loh Samah Bay, Pileh Lagoon, Viking Cave, Monkey Beach and Khai Nok Island.  We only stop and got down the boat at Maya Bay, another lagoon i don't know what's the name for snorkeling, Phi Phi Don for lunch and Khai Nok Island.  They picked us up at 7.45am from the hotel and all of us gathered in a place for a briefing. There were 3 boats that day for all of us,  then departed to the jetty which was about 1...

Guide To First Dates For Dummies

Guide To First Dates For Dummies While I'm not exactly an expert in relationships, first dates, and stuff, I've had a few learning experiences and a panel of consultants.  I feel the need to share with you, especially guys, a few do's and don'ts of a first date.  Basically to give you some idea of what girls expect on a first date and to save you from embarrassment and disappointments from not securing a second date.  1. Dress To Impress DO NOT underestimate the power of dressing. You only have one chance at making a good first impression.  You don't have to wear something expensive or trendy. Just something tidy, presentable, smart, or casual. Something you are comfortable in. Jeans, a nice shirt and shoes would be fine.  No short pants, slippers, and ratty t-shirts. If you want to wear shorts, wear them with a shirt (with collar) and shoes instead. Hair should be presentable, facial hairs trimmed and tidy, no bad breath or body odour.  Use cologn...
