Street Smart Tips That Can Save Your Life

It's getting more and more common to hear someone getting snatched, robbed and such. Things like people smashing your car window to grab your bag while you are waiting at the traffic light is also not unheard of. It is delusional to think that things like this won't happen to you or to anyone you loved. We cannot stop people from stealing or robbing but we definitely can prevent ourselves from becoming a victim. These are a few simple but practical tips to follow. 1. While walking on roadside, do not happily swing your handbag on shoulder/hand that is facing the road. Yes you maybe don't have a lot of money in there but the snatch thieves do not know that. They will do anything to get your bag, even to the point of dragging you 500 meters till you let go of the bag. 2. Be aware of your surrounding - meaning no texting, talking on the phone, listening to MP3 while walking. You are an easy target when you are distracted. 3. If you are driving, do not p

Crazy about Tempeh

Love for tempeh is an acquired taste. Iols hanya mengenali tempeh apabila menjejakkan kaki ke semenanjung Malaysia 13 tahun lepas. Ye lah uols, di Sarawak masa tu tempeh ni agak sukar ditemui. Tapi dalam 5 tahun lepas la kot senang sikit nak jumpa. Pernah sekali tu CPPS balik Sarawak untuk tempoh yang lama kemudian teringin nak makan tempeh.  Adui lah susahnya nak cari!  Sekarang ni tempeh ada dijual di kebanyakkan market basah.  Unless you are a fan of Malay food, you probably don't have the slightest bit of clue what is tempeh. A tempeh cake It is a traditional soy product originally from Indonesia, namely the Java community. Like tofu, it is made from soybeans.  Tempeh's fermentation process and its retention of the whole bean give it a higher content of protein, dietary fiber, and vitamins.  It has all the goodness a tofu has to offer, probably even more!  Like eggs, it is also a cheap form of good proteins and packed with nutrients. Tem

This Is EGG-cellent!

FERTILIZED.  I love everything about eggs. Hard-boiled, soft-boiled, scrambled, omelet, soup.Just name it.  When I'm hungry and it's too late to eat, I'll eat hard-boiled eggs. Best thing ever. Over the years, eggs have been misunderstood and thought to be bad for your cholesterol and fat level.  It is not.  According to a study by the Harvard School of Public Health, there is no significant link between egg consumption and heart disease. People tend to avoid the yolk but in truth, the yolk is where many of the vitamins and nutrients are found. Eggs are a great source of protein, vitamins, including vitamin A, B vitamins, potassium folic acid, choline, biotin and good fats.  In fact, it is one of the only foods that contain naturally occurring vitamin D other than milk. One egg contains 6 grams of high-quality protein and all 9 essential amino acids.  Our body needs good fats to function and to absorb vitamins and nutrients.  The humble eggs are a very ch

Keep Calm and Laugh Out Loud

Everyone knows laughter is the best medicine. Research shows that while children on average laugh up to 400 times a day, adults only laugh about 17 times/day!  There was a time in my life when i forgot how to laugh and everything is doom and gloom. Thankfully someone came along and remind me how good it is to laugh and smile until your cheeks hurt. I am lucky too to have friends who are super crazy and there were many occasions i laugh so hard my stomach hurts and i cried..tears of crazyness.  As you grow older and there's so much responsibility to bear, it is always important not to be so hard on yourself. Don't take yourself too seriously and try to act silly once in a while. Just the other day, my friends and i went jogging and it rain so hard even before we completed one round. We ended up running in the rain and soak ourselves playing in the water puddle..It was FUN!..well, until one of my friend started to sneeze so much and got a flu.... Here are some benefi

Anda Peminat Drama Tempatan/Melayu?

Drama paling saya suka. 2. Waktu tido pun mekap tebal 10 inci, siap dengan bulu mata palsu. Eyeshadow biru, pipi pink, lipstick merah menyala. Tiada kaitan dengan yang

Dear Girlfriends.....

I have known a lot of ladies who think they need someone to complete them and make them happy. Some compromised a lot and sacrificed so much of themselves to be in a relationship. Sadly some changed the person they are, the way they dress, even friends they mingle with just because the man in their life ask them to. Do not put your happiness in the hands of others. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. It is always up to us to make ourselves happy. If you are constantly wanting to be in a relationship to be happy or less lonely, you are going to be really disappointed.  Be happy with the person you are. If the one you are with now constantly make you feel worthless, maybe you are in a wrong relationship. Learn to love yourself. If you are not happy with the person you are now, how can you expect others to love you? This is a really nice song by Alicia Keys - Girl On Fire. Dedicated to all my girlfriends :) Remember, you are beautifu

Food cravings and personality? You gotta be kidding!

*Speechless!* There are times when you wake up in the middle of the night and you have a STRONG craving for something salty and savoury or something sweet. Cravings does not necessarily happen that time every month. Ahem. Why is it when something unexplained happen to the body always get associated with monthly period? Anyway, cravings can happen anytime. Have you heard that what food you crave is associated with your personality, psychological and physiological state you are in? Alan R. Hirsch, M.D., head of the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago and the author of "What Flavor Is Your Personality?" studied the food choices and cravings of almost 20,000 people for the last 25 years and reported consistent generalizations of what our cravings say about our personalities. When you crave salty food  Body: you may have a calcium, potassium, calcium, or iron deficiency.  Those who are stressed, angry, and anxious often crav

How Do You Like Your Maggi Mee?

How Do You Like Your Maggi Mee? Siapalah rakyat Malaysia tanpa Maggi Mee. Maggi mee ni adalah penyelamat daripada kebuluran dikalangan pelajar kolej dan universiti. Tak salah rasanya kalau nak kata Maggi ni penyelamat semua lapisan masyarakat Malaysia.  Yes it is not healthy, they say it is highly coated with wax, high content of preservatives, sodium and MSG but then, it's okay to give in once in a while right? Just like everything else manufactured, Maggi mee just does not taste the same anymore compared to 20-30 years ago. The asam laksa flavoured mee just isn't sour or hot enough, curry flavour is not curry enough and the noodles get soggy very fast.  They say the "kick" just isn't there anymore. Credit photo: simplepleasuresinourlives.wordpress.com Anyhow, it is still a comfort food for many Malaysians. It is so versatile and how you cook it varies according to individual.  I don't know about you but there are times when I CRAVED fo
