Happy girls are the prettiest - Audrey Hepburn |
Wishing you have bigger eyes, hidung mancung, V-shape face, longer legs, curvy body, bigger boobs and butt. Or wishing you are taller.
The list is endless. We are never satisfied with the way we look and we always compare ourselves to others.
If only I'm as pretty/smart/tall as her.
Somehow we attached our physical look to the acceptance and love from others. Thinking that people will love you more if you are prettier. When you expect love from an external source, and someone or something does not fulfill your void and fantasies, then you will feel worse than before.
We sometimes stop being ourselves in the hope that someone will love us.
If I do this, he/she will like me.
I'm too quiet, maybe if i talk and laugh louder someone will like me.
Don't do that.
You are unique and special because you are YOU. The only person you have to become is a better version of yourself.
We all have different gifts and talents. Embrace your gifts. Often times, something that we don't like about ourselves is what made you attractive.
Maybe you don't like how your eyes crinkled when you laugh or smile but that's what made you, you. It's uniquely you. And believe me, somebody finds it endearing and loved it.
Like myself, believe it or not, I'm not in love with my forehead. Luas gila sampai kapal terbang pun boleh landing atas tu.
And someone said "Love and accept it. It's what made you beautiful."
And I'm not in love with my most prominent birthmark either, tahi lalat yang besar gedabak di tepi dahi iols yang selalu iols cuba tutup dengan rambut.
But someone said "Hey, you've got a mole there which I never noticed before. It's beautiful."
If you believe you are beautiful, the person in the mirror will be beautiful.
If you focus on what others hate about you, that is all you will see. People will not notice your flaws until you mentioned it to them.
There was this guy I once knew, A. He has a close friend, B, who's better looking and more successful than he is.
A was always saying girls don't like him because he's not handsome, dark skinned and was always comparing himself to B.
What he didn't know was, he is attractive in his own ways. And knowing both of them, A is much more gentleman, kind, humble, down to earth and is a sweet person compared to B.
And that I found endearing.
Like I said before, being physically attractive is not hard. Some people are even born with it.
Being soulfully beautiful is the real challenge. No one is born with it. It has to be nurtured and learned over time.
Stop wishing who you are not and start loving who you are. You are perfect just the way you are, flaws and all. And Bruno Mars knows it.
Aawww.. you're perfect just the way you are too :)
