Did you know that smell is one of the most powerful senses? A smell can bring on a flood of memories, influence people's moods and even affect their work performance.
We've all experienced this: a familiar perfume, a family recipe, the scent of a bonfire—they all bring back barage of memories, whisking us away to re-live our past for a moment.
When you first smell a new scent, you link it to an event, a person, a thing or even a moment. Your brain creates a link between the smell and a memory.
So the next time you smell the same scent, it triggers a certain memory, mood or remind you of a person.
For example, the scent of freshly baked Famous Amos cookies reminds me of airports because that's where i first smelled it. Scent of freshly cut grass reminds me of Saturday morning in my old house because that's when they usually mow the lawn. It's amazing isn't it?
How does this happen?
The olfactory nerve (sense of smell) is located very close to the amygdala, the area of the brain that is connected to the experience of emotion as well as emotional memory. In addition, the olfactory nerve is very close to the hippocampus, which is associated with memory.
Smell is also an important element of attraction, especially when it comes to the feeling of chemistry that two people share.
Scent can play a huge role in how attracted we are to someone. We’ve all walked by someone, smelled a whiff of cologne or perfume and immediately taken a second glance.
Or what about when you’re flirting with that guy at the bar and he smells amazing? He just got more attractive.
Well i think someone who smells good is VERY attractive.
Few guys I dated couldn't for the love of God remembered the shape of my eyes or the mole on my face but remembered how I smelled, the scent of my car or my house.
"I still remember how you smell" or "That smell reminds me of you"
So, to make an impression on someone or to stick in someone's memory, wear perfume/cologne. You'll be perceived as more attractive and they'll always remember you when they smell the perfume/cologne you used.
