The society we lived in now is getting more selfish. It's all about the survival of the fittest. People take advantage of others. Instead of loving people and using things, they loved things and used people.
Think about where you are in your life right now.Chances are at some point in your life you received help from someone to help you get to where you are today. Perhaps a teacher offered you extra tutoring, you friend patiently teaching you although they have an exam to study for, or your parents made huge sacrifices so you could go to college.
Sometimes the act of kindness does not have to be monumental. It's amazing how little acts of kindness can have so much effect on someone's life. Be it friends who went out of their way to give you a lift, a stranger who offered a seat on the train, or saying thank you to the office cleaner lady.
Being kind to others not only makes you happier in the moment, but it also improves your health and promotes longevity. Studies show that regular acts of kindness can help to reduce blood pressure, lower the risk of heart disease, reduce excessive stomach acid and relieve pain, among other health benefits. It also enhances your sense of connectedness with others, which can help decrease feelings of loneliness and depression.
We all need to be aware of the other people in our lives who have helped us. And perhaps simply thanking those who have helped us isn’t enough. In the spirit of their kindness to us, let us pass along a similar kindness to someone else. How much more peaceful the world will be if we each seek to pass along a kindness done to us.
