It is indeed a very sad day for all of us. Although most of us were not directly affected by it, but our hearts, thoughts and prayers goes out to those whose family and friends were involved. I really couldn't imagine what those in the plane went through.
When you think about it, event like this taught and reminds us a few things. It reminds us that we are all human, we are all the same despite our race, religion or nationality. It reminds us that life is precious but it is often short. It taught us not to take our loved ones for granted.
For once, we focus on things that really matter. People all around the world are saddened by this news and it is heart warming that nations come together to help despite all the conflicts and disagreements. We are united. We empathise. Because deep down we know what its like to worry about our loved ones, what its like to lost a loved one. Humanity above race, religion or nationality.
We are also reminded of how short life is, that we are not promised tomorrow. It reminds us to seize and treasure every moment. Do what makes you happy, what makes you feel alive, things that matters most to you. So that when its time for you to leave, you know you lived a fulfilling life.
I personally think the most valuable lesson is not to take people, especially our loved ones for granted. Be mindful of things we do or say to them because it might be the last thing we say to them. Can you live with the guilt if "I don't ever want to see your face again" were the last thing you said to them? Each day that we lived, spread love and kindness. Tell your loved ones how much they mean to you.
The Power Of Intuition
I was listening to the updates on the radio the other day and this girl who was supposed to go on this flight did not board the plane because she doesn't feel like going. One thing she said that struck me was
"I felt that i was born with a mission here on earth and because i have not completed that mission, God tells me that its not my time yet."
Wow.
And everybody wants to have a say
Sometimes when tragedy strikes, everyone wants to have a say. Everyone wants to be the first to share the news, even if its not true. And everyone wants to be the friend, the cousin, the uncle, the friend of a friend, the so and so of someone on the plane. Tiba2 mau mengaku kenal pulak. Before we share or say something, think about the feelings of the friends and family who are deeply affected by this. If we have nothing nice to say, don't say anything.
Well anyway, let us unite in our prayers that we'll hear some news soon. May God and the angels be with them.
