Why It Is Harder For Woman To Lose Weight And Why Weight Training Is Important

Totally unrelated but true nonetheless..

The other day, I was chatting with a personal trainer from the fitness studio I attended. He was talking about his client, a married couple, and was mildly frustrated because the wife did not seem to lose weight as fast as her husband. 

He asked me why.

Here's why it is harder for women to lose weight compared to men:

1.  Women Have Different Body Composition Than Men

Women have less muscle but more body fat compared to a man who's biologically designed to have more muscle but less body fat. 

And as you all know, muscle has a higher metabolic rate than fat. 

Hence the more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism is, the faster you can burn excess calories. 

This means that, even when we are resting, men burn more calories than women.

2. Blame The Hormones

Men have more testosterone than women and testosterone builds muscle. 

Women, on the other hand, have a higher level of estrogen and this hormone promotes the storage of body fat. This is nature's way to prepare a woman for childbearing. 

Because we have lower testosterone, it is harder for us to build and maintain muscle.

3. The Way We Eat

According to Katherine Tallmadge, RD, the author of Diet Simple. "Men love their meat, and women are attached to carbohydrates" 

Women tend to skip meals when trying to lose weight. This is unhealthy and can be counter-productive. 

Meal skipping fluctuates your blood sugar level, you'll have inadequate nutrition and it also alters your metabolism. 

Just eat a smaller portion and load up on fruits and vegetables. And please don't skip breakfast if you want to lose weight.

Weight training builds muscle, helps you burn more calories, and tones you up. 

It really does shape you up. 

Don't worry about being bulky because women have a low level of testosterone. You will not turn into Hulk. 

Not only that, but weight training also strengthens your bones by increasing your bone density and prevent osteoporosis.

Minggu lepas sis ada post gambar makeover laman rumah yang siap dalam masa 3 hari. Rupanya ramai jugak yang ingin mempunyai laman yang cantik dan kemas kan. Ye la, balik kerja stress petang-petang.
