Food Sampling, Free gifts And Strong Sense Of Entitlement
Most of us are familiar with food sampling in supermarkets and the companyās strategy to boost sales by doing the ābuy 2 and get a free giftā policy.
It is common to see promoters/samplers in supermarkets offering free sampling.
I'm guilty of going to a huge hypermarket like Carrefour and taste everything that was there to offer and end up not buying anything.
Having been in both sideās shoes, as customer and promoter, I now understand the promoterās feelings and having to deal with difficult, demanding, and kiasu customers with a strong sense of entitlement.
These are a few typical scenarios:
1. Customers came 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 100th time to get fruit juice, carbonated drinks, cookies, snacks samples. Hello sekius me sistur, this is not a free food counter.
2. When the promoter said the sample has finished, some customers will say āYour company so lau ya wan! How come not enough samples for people to try?!ā
3. For events with balloons, there is a limited amount of balloons to be given away as some are for decorations. Parents always came up to us and say
āNak belon satu boleh? Eh nak 3 la, untuk cucu saya kat rumah.ā
Or the customer from hell
āWhy you all blow the balloon so big?! It will explode even before we reach home!ā
We will gladly give 10 if they buy our products.

Sense Of Entitlement
Meaning that the particular person felt they deserved to receive that something.In a Spin & Win game, a few customers will bargain to get better/more expensive gifts.
They will say āCan change or not? This one not good la/this one is cheap one la.ā
What you spin and get is what you bring home mister.
Sometimes they failed to notice the fine print of āWhile stock lastsā and throw a big fuss when that certain free gift is out of stock.
Most of the time, we can see how rude adults can be. Made me wonder why their parents didnāt teach them manners.
