Healthy eating is not about starving or depriving yourselves of your favorite food nor it is about staying super thin. Its about keeping yourself healthy and nourishing your body with optimum nutrition. Here's how you can eat and live smart:
1. Start slow and make little changes
Changing everything at once usually leads to cheating or giving up on your new eating plan. Make small steps, like adding a salad (full of different color vegetables) to your diet once a day or reduce your sugar intake per day.
2. Drink more water
Water helps our body to flush toxins and waste. It's common to mistake thirst for hunger so staying well-hydrated will also help you make healthier diet choices.
3. Exercise, exercise and exercise
Find something you love to do i.e dancing, aerobics, walking, swimming or sports so that it will be something you look forward to instead of dreading it. When you love it, it's no longer a chore.

4. Moderation is key
Fruits are good for our health so it is certainly good if we eat A LOT of it right? Wrong. Good food if eaten in excess is no longer good. Everything is about moderation. Do portion control. You can eat sugar or salt or fried foods but in a small amount.
5. Eat a rainbow
Of fruits and vege that is. Colorful, deeply colored fruits and vegetables contain higher concentrations of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants—and different colors provide different benefits, so eat a variety. Try green leafy vegetables, pumpkins or carrots and purple cabbage in a single meal.
6. Don't forget the proteins
Of course meat, poultry and eggs are a good source of protein. Try fish and plant based proteins like soy products. My favorite is tofu and tempe!
7. Indulge once in awhile
So you like cakes, chocolates or fried foods (guilty), it is okay to indulge once in awhile. just be mindful of how much you eat.
So, who says healthy and smart eating is hard?
