My guy friends always say i'm too demanding in looking for a partner, played too hard to get. Jual mahal. I used to try to explain that it is okay to have certain criteria or standards to look for in someone. After all, you are going to trust him with your heart. And for the record, i'm not too demanding, these people just don't know the way to my heart :p
My usual response was "Barang baik mesti jual mahal" or "good things certainly come at a higher price". Over time, this response fished out more questions and remarks like 'not all expensive things are good'..bla bla bla bla..Until few months ago, someone gave me this story about "Jual Mahal" and i felt that it sums up those who jual mahal perfectly.
Imagine you have a dearly old car you loved and treasure so much. One day, you really-really need to let go of the car and you have no choice but to sell it. The market price wasn't that much for that car but it meant so much to you because of all the sentimental values that car has. So you sell at a higher than market price. Would you sell the car?
I imagine my car is like this |
That someone's perfect answer was this.
"If i found someone who appreciate the true value of the car, the memories and sentimental value that the car has and still wouldn't mind the high price, i would give the car for free. Because i'm sure he/she will love and appreciate the car as much as i do."
The same goes for a person. Don't settle for less until you can find someone who can truly appreciate the person that you are, your value and your worth.
Perfect answer. Or he's just one hell of a sweet talker......
