Secret For Looking And Staying Young



I have an uncle who is in his middle sixties but he does not look his age..more like 55 years old. Over the years, i have observed how he eats, sleep and generally take care of himself. He sleeps early (9.30pm or 10pm), really watch what and how much he eats. In fact he planted his own organic vege. He ate lots of vege. He does not smoke and is only an occasional drinker. 

Anyway, people always thought i look younger than my age. I guess that is a good thing :p

So what are the tips to look younger? These are the things i personally practiced:

1. Like i said, watch what and how much you eat. What you put inside your body nourishes you. It is true when they say "you are what you eat". So if you eat junk, you'll feel and look like junk. Eat more protein, vege and fruits (loads of antioxidants). Drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. Water helps to hydrate the skin and detoxify the body. 

2. Get enough sleepSleep helps regulate your body's metabolism and helps you stay fresh. There is a reason they call enough sleep as beauty sleep. Get at least 6 hours of sleep. If you can train yourself to sleep early, all the better!

3. ExerciseJust 30 minutes of a moderate activity for three or four times a week can help you can help you stay disease-free by strengthening your immune system. It releases the feel-good-hormone (endorphin). When you feel great, you'll look great. 

4. Protect your skin against the sun - uv rays from the sun have the potential to damage your skin , results in dehydration. According to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA,  most of the changes seen in ageing skin are actually "caused by a lifetime of sun exposure". Use sunscreen whenever possible.

5. Don't smoke and limit your alcohol intake - Research shows that smoking alone ages skin. Indy Rihal from the British Skin Foundation told NHS Choices that smoking reduces the skin's natural elasticity by promoting the breakdown of collagen and also reducing the amount that is produced. So girls who are smoking and are taking supplementary collagen for their skin is like throwing money in the drain...

6. Drink green tea - abundance of antioxidants. Read more on green tea in my previous post here

7. Be positive-minded, be happy - Those who chose to be happy and manages stress well undeniably look younger and healthy. Life is too short to be constantly worried anyway. Have some fun and laugh as much as you can. Everyone has an inner child, once in a while, let that inner child to come out and play. 

8. Keep smiling - i personally believe this. Those who loved to smile looked young, happy and radiant. A good friend once told me to smile when you wake up in the morning and immediately you'll feel better and ready to face the day. And he who said this, undeniably looked so much younger than his age. 

9. Take care of your skin inside and out - besides using sunscreen, eat the right food. Find out what kind of food for beautiful skin here
