Chiropractic Care and Headache: My Personal Experience How Chiropractic Changed My Life
How frequent?
At least twice a month.
Aging people issues 😅
While there are many types of headaches out there, mine was mostly this tightness-feel-like-head-wanna-burst on the left, accompanied by a stiff neck and back muscle.
Not sure if it's a migraine but there are no other typical migraine symptoms besides just the headache.
And it would last for days.
The normal panadol doesn't really work so usually, I would take Panadol Xtra, yes, the one with caffeine, to help with the pain. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't.
Then I tried taking NSAID with a muscle relaxant (to help with my muscle stiffness). It helps to some extent but it does take 2-3 days for the headache to go away.
Since taking painkillers doesn't really help with my condition, I started to research alternative approaches and became quite interested in chiropractic so I visited Chiropractor First Sunway Velocity.
My Experience With Chiropractic
Let me tell you, CHIROPRACTIC SAVE MY LIFE. lol.
From after my first adjustment till now, more than 2 months later, I only had 1 episode of headache and have stopped popping painkillers like it's candy.
How amazing is that!?!?!
From time to time, I do experience shoulder & neck stiffness (still on the left side, probably because of sleep position?) but not until I need to take a painkiller.
What Is The Process Like and How Much Was It?
The 1st session is a consultation and you'll have to do an X-ray (off-site) that cost me almost RM400.
Ouch. But sokay, I consider it as an investment for my health. Ayat pujuk diri duit melayang.
Some other centers might not do an X-ray but if you really want to get better & see improvement, I would recommend centers that do their adjustment/treatment based on your X-ray result.
The 2nd session is where the doctor will review your X-ray and suggest a care plan depending on your condition.
According to my X-ray, my pelvis is slightly tilted so my left leg is a little bit shorter. Some evidence of wear & tear in my left shoulder joint, some stage 2 lumbar spine bone spur, and apparently, my cervical spine (neck) is too straight when it's supposed to have a slight curvature 😅
After my 1st adjustment, the doctor did mention that I'll probably have headaches in the next few days. Some patients will feel tired/sleepy, some will feel very fresh.
True enough, I experienced a massive headache that night. Took a painkiller, went to sleep and headache gone the next morning.
I have to come for adjustments 2-3 times a week, each session cost me about RM100.
I know, my pocket is crying too but again, investment for health.
But actually, I really do look forward to the sessions. I feel so refreshed after each adjustment. The attending doctor & their staff is very friendly and so easy to deal with which make the experience even more pleasant.
Would I recommend Chiropractic Care?
A.B.S.O.L.U.T.E.L.Y!
Especially if your work is desk-bound and being sedentary most of the time. You'll most likely experience some sort of postural issues i.e neck, shoulder, back pain.
Chiropractor care is a great alternative to conventional treatments.
