Sejak-sejak Covid 19 ni, kita kena hidup dalam norma baru. Kena biasakan diri pakai pelitup muka, amalkan penjarakkan sosial (yang ni sis gemar sangat sebab tak suka tempat sesak/ bersesak dengan orang), basuh tangan dengan kerap.
Satu lagi norma baru adalah bekerja dari rumah ataupun work from home (WFH).
Masa MCO bulan Mac hari tu, excited bila WFH sebab pengalaman pertama. But let me tell you, it was more like WORK FROM HELL for me & my team.
Mungkin bagi sesetengah syarikat/ jabatan/ department, WFH ni sangat heaven untuk diorang. Boleh bangun lewat, boleh lepak-lepak main game, tido, makan sambil "buat kerja".
Ramai orang yang tidak berada di tempat sis pun ingat weols macam tu
"Seronoklah korang WFH kan. takde kerja nak buat"
Hamboi hamboi hamboi mulut. It was nothing like that at all for us. It was pure torture! In fact we prefer to work from office.
Pros of WFH
Besides reducing infection risk la kan. duhhhh
1. Save money, time, energy & other resources commuting to & fro work.
- Tak perlu bawak kereta, harung jam, maki-maki driver bodoh
- Tak perlu isi minyak, bayar tol, parking
- Masuk kerja 9am, bangun 8.30 pun sempat okay. Habis kerja 6pm, dah terus boleh bersenam ke masak ke gardening ke
2. Tak perlu bersiap
- Honestly my least favourite thing to do at the end of the day is removing my make up. So yeahhhhh!!! tak payah mekap, tak payah sakit otak fikir nak pakai baju apa hari ni eh i dah pakai baju ni last week takkan nak pakai ni lagi
- No pants, no bra, no panties, no clothes, no shoes. You can work naked for all I care
- Oopps tapi sis mandi tau setiap pagi. hahahahha
3. Multi-tasking, better time-management
- Sambil reply email, sambil potong sayur. Mampuu?!
4. Great for Introverts
- No interactions, no forced social engagements, awkward small talks in pantry all sounds good to me.
Cons of WFH
- again, this depends on the company/ department. But this is my personal experience
1. More workload
- Masa MCO tu kesemua 82 outlet diarahkan tutup, department weols jadi one stop customer centre untuk physical store & online stores. So uols bayangkan kita kena handle customers melalui pelbagai communication channels termasuk Whatsapp, Livechat, calls, emails. Kena proses order lagi. Non stop sis. nak kencing pun tak sempat. Makan tak payah cakap lah, kalau tak Grab, capai je apa ada depan mata.
- Imagine with all this workload but you are working with limited resources. memang work from hell.
2. Constant updates via various channels
- Yang ni pun sangat draining & memenatkan.
- Takde maknanya lah nak nap ke nak tido ke masa WFH. Sentiasa perlu up to date dengan pelbagai pihak melalui pelbagai communication channels. Sekejap2 pihak A update kat Skype, Pihak B kat email, Pihak C melalui Whatsapp, Pihak D melalui Microsoft Teams, Pihak E pakai burung merpati, Pihak F pakai asap unggun api
3. Micromanaging
- Boss takut staff dia makan gaji buta kat rumah, takde kerja nak buat. So macam-macam tugasan adhoc diberi. Tugasan adhoc ni pulak macam angin monsoon, bertukar-tukar. Uols dah stress & penat-penat buat, tiba-tiba dia cakap "Eh takyah la buat benda ni" Apooo?!?!
- Boss takut you mengular tido, so setiap 3-4 jam conference call la, please read my message & acknowledge la, please update this la that la.
4. Limited resources
- Nak print takde printer
- Kalau takde WIFI kat rumah macam sis ni, ha pakailah mobile hotspot. terima kasih DIGI
- No proper table & chairs for you to work, akibatnya sis sakit pinggang setiap hari. If you are like me, had lower backpain, try to do Pigeon Pose, very helpful to relieve lower back pain.
- Ruang tamu takda aircond, bekerja dalam keadaan panas, ketiak basah sis.
5. Kena kerja, kena jaga anak, kena masak pada masa yang sama
- Mak-mak yang kena WFH memang stress level dia sampai langit ke-7 dengan nak kerja, dengan kena jaga anak, buat kerja rumah kena masak lagi.
- Walaupun takda anak (anak iols tumbuhan, duduk diam je good girl sangat), sis faham struggle mak-mak ni.
- In fact, kebanyakkan ibu bekerja ni lagi suka datang pejabat, sebab kat pejabat ni macam "mini holiday" untuk diorang. Dapat me-time, boleh bertenang buat kerja sambil minum kopi.
6. Your sanctuary (home) is now a work place
- Sebelum WFH, senang untuk pisahkan kerja (stress) & kehidupan peribadi (rumah, masa peribadi). You can just leave work at the office, shut your brain & not thinking about work when you reach home.
- But now home is also your "office", everything is blended into one WFH. it's difficult to totally shut of your brain off work. So you are still in "work mode" even after you switch off your laptop
Ada pros & cons kan. Lain company, lain policy/ practice tapi bagi iols, lagi stress kot WFH.
