Friday Feels: Angry Old Man

 Friday Feels: Angry Old Man

I need to get my blogging mojo back after the Christmas & New Year Break.
Well, not just blogging mojo but life mojo in general. Sed.

Have you ever come across someone who is so full of anger that you just have to wonder "why is this person like this?"

Anyway, the other day, I was screamed at over the phone by an angry middle-aged man that is damn unwilling to listen to anyone's explanation.

He was already shouting from the moment I answered the phone.

He was angry at our manufacturer for allowing a certain high dosage of nutrients to be sold over the counter. That it is dangerous and toxic. yada yada yada.

Of course, we gotta explain about RDA, higher requirements for a certain medical condition, approved as per country's regulations and such.

And he demanded to know how many percent of the nutrient that his body can absorb.

I try to tell him that this is very difficult to determine because nutrient absorption rate varies according to individuals and there is sooooo many factors that affect this.

And very limited medical evidence that can exactly tell you how many percent you can absorb at any given time.

But he was like continuously cutting me midsentence, screaming that I didn't understand his question, that I'm stupid and bloody don't know anything.

"I want you to tell me how many percent I can absorb from this supplement! I want you to email your manufacturer and ask if they have studies to prove it!"

The thing about asking manufacturers is they usually charged you when you have this kind of inquiry.

Actually, they are more likely to entertain you if you ask as a customer & not as an organization.

Weird right. But that's how it works.

So I just let him shout and shout and shout and just kept quiet because whenever I say something, he will just cut me off and continue shouting.

I can imagine his spits flying while he shouted.

"Hello? Hello? ARE YOU STILL THERE?!!?!"

"Yes Mr. xx, I'm still here"

Then he continued shouting.

"How many percent?? how many percent!!"

"Actually sir...."

"NO!NO!! YOU ARE NOT ANSWERING MY QUESTION! YOU GUYS BLOODY STUPID DUNNO HOW TO DO YOUR JOB?!"

So I just okay-ed okay-ed him until he got fed up and slam down the phone. Lol.

Gosh! so much anger in a person. Must be horrible to live with this kind of man.

Apparently, angry middle-aged man syndrome is quite common around the world with a lot of articles that discussed this.

One factor discussed is the decline in testosterone level that causes them to be grumpy and irritable. Sounds like andropause to me.

But women experience menopause too. Shouldn't they be angry like these men too?

According to Michael Grunt, author of books that emphasize on man's psychology says "Females can get immensely irritated, too. But when they are depressed, they evidence it in crying and talking. Males tend to use anger more.ā€

Aaaa....that makes sense. No wonder lahh.

"When women are depressed, they . . . eat or go shopping. Men invade another country" - Comedian Elayne Boosler

Eat & shopping is a wonderful, and most importantly, a non-abusive coping mechanism.

  1. I'm sorry that you had to deal with such an unpleasant person. Usually they behave like that due to their own frustration, whatever the source of frustration is. So basically they are the problem. You did the right thing by letting him yell his heart out LOL!

  2. No one has the right to dole out such verbal abuse, and absolutely no one should be on the receiving end. I’d have told the as*hole in a calm manner that you will not be putting up with such verbal abuse and will hang up on him and if he calms down and is able to hold a civilized conversation, then you will listen.

It is famous for the divine beaches, best seafoods, historical prisons and cheaper souvenirs.  It's a quaint but very lively city. So we took the train from Perth Station. If you are travelling in pairs, it's cheaper to get the family rider fare where for a fee of $12 (about $6 per person), you can hop on and off the train, to any station within Transperth territory the whole day.  Travel tips: Go to Fremantle on the weekends for their weekend markets. Take the Fremantle Line and get down at the last station. Once you exited the station, turn right towards the CAT bus station.
