Off all the meal times, my favourite is always and will always be tea time. I even blogged about it 5 years ago HERE.
Damn I was thin back then. Sighh. Those were the days that I have so much time on my hand with so little commitment hence the coffee time hunt.
It is my favourite meal time whenever I'm back in hometown too.
Bila rajin, sis buatlah kuih muih yang simple-simple. Cucur sayur ke cucur ikan bilis ke. Bila syaiton rajin merasuk, maka kadang-kadang tu terjadilah karipap atau popia.
Kena pulak Teh O panas, lagi seronok kalau kebetulan pulak petang tu hujan. Yang best pasal tea time kat kampung halaman ni sebab boleh minum petang sambil bergosip dengan mak, makcik, adik beradik atau sepupu sis.
Kadang tea time sampai sejam dan tak sedar dah kena masak untuk makan malam pulak.
So apparently, the Swedish also have this tea time culture and it's called Fika.
Fika is often translated as "a coffee and cake break" but it's much more than that.
It's all about slowing down and finding time for family, friends or colleagues, whilst you sip a drink and enjoy something small to eat.
The word fika actually derives from the 19th-century slang word for coffee: kaffi. Invert the word kaffi, and you get fika!
How cute.
On most Sunday's evening, if I'm at home and I'm extra ambitious, I'll always have this tea time project of making cakes/ pastries/ kuih muih for tea time. Walaupun sis saturang saja yang makan.
What is your favourite tea time snacks?

Kuih penjaram/ penyaram/ cucur jawa. I was so happy that I finally mastered making this kuih. It's my favourite. |
Another favourite experiment. Sometimes i crave for this apam balik at odd hours and since this delicacy can only be found at pasar malam, sis terpaksa telan keinginan nak makan kuih ni. Tapi ni dah pandai buat sendiri, wohoooooo! |
Cucur/ jemput-jemput sayur, my all time go to teatime munchies. I always add in onions, corn kernels and whatever vege I have in the fridge (cabbage or carrot). Nak senang, sis pakai je tepung cucur adabi tu. Campak-campak siap. |
Kuih keria gula melaka. Selalunya orang rebus ubi keledek tapi sis suka steam jadi ubi tu kurang berair. So bila uli nanti, uols tak payah letak tepung banyak sangat and kuih pun tak keras. |
Kek pisang gunung berapi meletus |
Ni bila terlebih rajin, maka jadilah kek lapis. |
I loveeeee fikaa!
