How many times have we look at celebrities or stars and envy how perfect they look?
"Omg we are the same age and she looked so young and fabulous!"
"Both of us have 3 kids but I look like something the cat dragged in and she looks glamorous! How does she do it?"
Or you know some random instafamous/ influencer who is famous for being famous and you wonder what actually they do and contribute to society. They look so perfect and a lot of girls be like
"macam mana nak jadi cantik macam ni?"
"Bodygoals"
"Tak pernah tak cantik"
And then all these girls, already feeling insecure, strive to be like their idol. Doing everything they can to look like that but are never quite successful. Ended up feeling more insecure about themselves.
Do you know what is the difference between them and us mere mortals?
They have money and we don't. Or maybe not as much as them.
With loads of money, they can afford to have a glam team behind them, making sure they look perfect all the time.
They have a personal trainer, nutritionist, hairstylist, makeup artist, aesthetician, beauticians, the best doctor/ plastic surgeons. They have the money to buy healthy, nutritious food.
They have maids at home, babysitter, gardener, driver, a personal assistant who do everything for them. So they have more time for themselves for sleep, leisure and other things pleasant.
And on top of that, they have talented photographers who took flattering photos of them and later on expertly photoshop and filtered those photos.
Sometimes, these 'celebrities' even make things worse by endorsing products. "Take this/ eat this/ do this and you will be beautiful/slim like me" when in fact, they never consume or use those products.
Well anyway, things are not always what they seem.
Popularity, beauty, or perfection is not happiness.
I know of somebody who has a lot of followers on social media but in real life is actually quite lonely.
Anyway on an unrelated note, why do people so obsessed with fame? Why do people want to be famous?
Isn't it exhausting and draining entertaining netizens on social media? Finding content every day to keep your fans/ followers interested, capturing and sharing every moment of your life, even the private ones.
Isn't it soul-destroying reading the hateful and untrue things about yourself?
So anyway, don't be sad. We are not ugly, we are broke.
