Selamat Hari Gawai!

I love Gawai. At the place where I'm from, Gawai is always more happening than Christmas. Relatives working far-far away would take this opportunity to balik kampung.  So as usual, I've got an important task to do before balik kampung. Yes, you are right. I've got gardenia buns and bread to smuggle. *cue evil laugh* Bought it in stages from different shops Seal it nicely in a box and checked in the package so i can saunter gracefully into the plane... And that's how you bring lots of gardenia back to Sarawak...like a pro! hehe I'm in an Iban traditional costume. I borrowed it from my sister who bought it online.  My mum is a Bidayuh and my late dad is an Iban so that makes me an Iban but I would always tell people I'm a Bidayuh because my Iban is rusty. Anyway, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all Dayaks  "Selamat Ari Gawai. Gayu Guru Gerai Nyamai, Lantang Senang Nguan Menoa. Oooohhhaaaaa!" Xoxo,  Cynthi...

Jual Mahal - The Story Of An Old Car

Close enough..show me your 6 packs My guy friends always say i'm too demanding in looking for a partner, played too hard to get. Jual mahal. I used to try to explain that it is okay to have certain criteria or standards to look for in someone. After all, you are going to trust him with your heart. And for the record, i'm not too demanding, these people just don't know the way to my heart :p My usual response was "Barang baik mesti jual mahal" or "good things certainly come at a higher price". Over time, this response fished out more questions and remarks like 'not all expensive things are good'..bla bla bla bla..Until few months ago, someone gave me this story about "Jual Mahal" and i felt that it sums up those who jual mahal perfectly. Imagine you have a dearly old car you loved and treasure so much. One day, you really-really need to let go of the car and you have no choice but to sell it. The market price wasn't that...

Like This Can Kah?

Collagen Supplements-Do They Work?

Collagen supplements are becoming more and more popular as  people aim to make their skin younger and healthier with the help of collagen diet supplements, collagen creams and lotions.  So what is this collagen? Collagen is a natural protein synthesized by your skin cells.  Bone, teeth, muscle, hair, skin, and other body tissues require collagen to maintain its structure. More than half of the collagen is in the bone, and the rest of it is in other body tissues.    As we get older, levels of collagen begin to decrease in our bodies, causing wrinkles in our skin, joint problems, and other signs of aging.  So does collagen supplements work? Collagen has a very complex molecular structure therefore collagen supplements cannot be absorbed into the body to become part of our collagen.  Collagen creams will also not work as the molecule is too large to be absorbed into the skin. Even if the collagen could be absorbed into the skin, it would...

The Healing Prayer

"Prayer of Thy Healing Angels, That is carried from God by Michael, Thy Archangel. Pour out, Thy Healing Angels, Thy Heavenly Host Upon me, And upon those that i love, Let me feel the beam of Thy Healing Angels upon me, The light of Your Healing Hands. I will let Thy Healing begin, Whatever way God grants it, Amen." This is the healing prayer from God, given to Lorna Byrne by The Archangel Michael. Say this prayer when in need of healing either physical, mental and emotional or to let go of hurt, anger or resentments.  Have a great weekend, xoxo Cynthia

Rumour Has It

It's normal that when you gather with friends or families, you gossip and talk about people you knew. Who got married, who got a new boyfriend, who got a new job etc. Gossiping and spreading rumours or lies about someone are a totally different thing.  Yes we can't control what people think and say about us. People like to judge. You would expect those close to you or your family to know you or your situation better but that is not always the case. Sometimes, these people are more vicious.  Have someone spread rumours about you?   I used to be chubby but started to lose weight gradually as i leave home to study elsewhere. It's the combination of being more active, taking care of what i eat and stress. The funniest thing (it wasn't funny at that time) someone said about me was i had an abortion that's why i lost so much weight but my boobs are huge (for the record it's not that huge). And this came from someone in the family.  I was...

Joel 365 - Episod Bulu-bulu

So i have this one crazy, obscene friend who always have this crazy, unexpected, out of the box answer and idea to everything. Sarawakian called people like him "TUYUK". He's always so talkative and can't sit still for a second. It's almost like ADD! Everyday, i mean everyday he would crack crazy jokes. My friend then come up with an idea that i should compile all his crazy antics. Hence, this new episode in my blog, "Joel 365" A group of us were talking about body hairs. Me: Kenak bulu tuttt keriting oh? Joel: Sebab nya mala terkepit. Coba kau sik pakey seluar setahun, straight nya ba." What??!

Sikit Lagi Mau Jadi Hulk

I always consider myself to be a mild-mannered person. Sometimes people, especially those who doesn't really know me that well said they never saw me get angry. They described me as someone cool and calm. Most of the time, i don't get angry that easy but i'm human okay, i do get angry. When i'm annoyed, angry or plain moody, only those close to me knew, especially my dear friend, Anne  I don't have to say a word, she only need to look at my face. I used to think that i have a high patience-threshold but lately, i think something shifted and lowers the threshold. Last week i find myself super irritable, angry and snapped at those who annoys me. I don't know why of all the days, those friends all choose the same day to test my patience. I'm sorry i raised my voice at you guys :p Maybe i should do yoga or something to calm myself down . Or attend anger management courses. Or something like that... Ya, i look like that when i'm angry. All o...

Towards A Bikini-Ready Body and Confidence!

I recently became quite interested in bikini. I find myself browsing the net and shops for bikinis and pretty swimwear.  Finally after almost 30 years of living on the surface of the earth, I finally have the courage to wear one.  Well, it was at night, at a private residences' pool so there were not many people around to stare at me.  Next time, I'm going to advance to another level. My partner in crime and i have planned to go for a beach party in bikini.  But we don't know where and when yet. Most probably somewhere no one knows us.  Not that I have a bikini-worthy body but I'm working towards it. Anyway, wearing a bikini is not all about the body to carry it but the most important thing is to have the confidence to do so.  We girls are too body conscious most of the time.  We worry about our cellulite, stretch marks, scars. We think we are too fat, arms too flabby, thigh too huge, ass too fat.  It is endless. Most of the tim...

Malaysians and Their Obsession With Free Things

Malaysians have this obsession with free things. I've observed that everywhere, including in a  supermarket . Remember when Datuk Lee Chong Wei won a medal in the Olympics and Baskin' and Robins gave free ice-cream? The lines are LONG everywhere and people are willing to stand in the line for hours just for a scoop of something free.  More and more people feel they are entitled to something and that the government owe them. One of the news sometime before election was citizens in Selangor is suing the state government for failing to provide them with free water. Helloooooo...a lot of people in interior of Sabah and Sarawak don't have access to clean water pun diam2 saja. You still remember the ANNOYING "listen, listen, listen, listen" video involving a UUM student debating why can't the current government give Malaysians free education? I personally think both party are a bit at fault here. The student should have calmly presented her points and not ...

Oh My Boobies!

The only reason my previous post " The Story of Soy Products and Man Boobs " is SO popular was because apparently, people googled "boobs, man boobs" and they were directed to this blog. What is this obsession with boobs?? You little charmer... Well, i guess sex really does sell. The only reason Harian Metro is the number one tabloid in Malaysia is because their headlines are always related to sex and sex stories. Headlines like "Janda Gersang" or "Dicekup Bogel Dalam Bilik Hotel" is something common in that tabloid. Is our society that sex-crazed? Oh well, biarlah..yang penting blog byk view. Ok bye

Precious Little Young Man

I swear that watching this video will get your heart swelling and plaster a silly grin on your face..like it did to me :D I watched this over and over again. Recommended for your bad day for some mood uplifting. Super adorable little young man. His expression is PRICELESS.  Have a great weekend! xoxo Cynthia

Where Are You Little Feather?

Remember i told you i found a white feather on my seat when i flew back to KL  and thought that it is a sign from my guardian angel? I immediately kept it in my purse. Then a few days ago, i wanted to take it out and place it in a proper place. I looked and looked, flip everything out of my purse and it's not there. I lost my white feather! Sad. Ok bye.

I Don't Like Cats

Finally something not related to angels. Throughout my whole life, i've never been an animal person. The only animal/pet i can tolerate is fish. I don't know why. I did not choose to dislike cats, dogs or all the other furry things. I just don't like them. I don't like their furs. I especially don't like cats. They pee and poop and throw up anywhere they want in the house. Everyone in my family is an animal person. We have few cats and a BATTALION of dogs and I never knew their names. Those cats knew i didn't like them and yet whenever i'm home, they would come and brush themselves against my leg or lie next to me or hang out in my room, on my bed! and leave all their furs there. Urghhh In the house where i stayed now, there is a cat that always came into our house whenever we are not home and leave 'souvenir'. It got bolder and went into my room, peed on comforter and clothes and bag. Not once, not twice but three times! I really don't ...

All Of Us Are Equal - Say No To Racism

My last post was an  introduction to angels  and how they played a part in someone's life. Oh you bet. This post will still talk about angels and such. I think I'm edging closer to obsession. Haha. I think everyone is aware about the current state of our country. The political turmoil, rampant racism and such. 1 Malaysia hanya pada nama. Maybe they should learn from us in Borneo how to tolerate other races and religion. Some people think they are in higher position than others, they deserved a certain "hak". Some people think their religion is better than others and argued their God is the one true God. Sometimes religions imposed sooooo many man-made rules that they forget the true essence of a religion. To do good and love one another. Sometimes when a person converted to another religion on their own freewill or due to marriage, they are condemned and isolated by their families and friends. Well i think it does not matter what religion we practiced, deep...

Do You Believe In Angels?

Friends i talked to might have noticed my current fascination (not quite obsession yet) with angels, souls and spirit since i got back from my vacation. That's all i talked about since. haha.  I have always believed in guardian angels, archangels and angels in general. Even from my religion point of view, angels have always been mentioned in the bible and played a pivotal role in being a messenger and carrying out God's will. In the bible, the archangel Michael, Gabriel and Raphael have always been mentioned. Many other angels have been mentioned but their name was generally not known.  Many times in my life i believed i have been touched by an angel. There are times in my life when i felt i have no strength to face the obstacles but amazingly enough, i did. I never knew i could be that strong. One of my favorite thing they said about guardian angels is “They make sure you meet the right person at the right time.” How true is that.   There was a point in ...

Kamek Anak Sarawak

It’s the general election weekend. My friends and I were very-very lucky to get free tickets to go back to Kuching for the weekend. Because i'm a true Sarawakian at heart, yes I brought a box of gardenia  buns and bread back. We were very excited as it was our first voting experience. During the flight to Kuching and later, back to KL, everyone was really excited. The flight to Kuching was uneventful but the one back to KL was..interesting. It was a HUGE plane, double deck and everyone was looking forward (I think) to go back and return to reality. It turns out there was an engine technical problem and we were delayed for 6 hours but amazingly no one complained. Well, maybe we realized it’s a free flight and we have no right to complain or maybe it’s because we Sarawakians are not complaining type of people. Both on-board and ground MAS staffs were very friendly and helpful too. It’s not easy though to handle about 300 passengers. Kudos to them :) During the wait to boar...

Mat Salleh Boyfriend Is Better?

I have known a lot of ladies who wanted a mat salleh/white/foreigner boyfriend. My partner-in-crime repeatedly chant this "scruffy look, biceps and tattoos are must." ahem.  Sometimes it's like you strike a lottery if you managed to get a white boyfriend. It's like a trophy.  Are local men not good enough? Where are all the good local man anyway? Why these girls wanted a foreign man?  They said mat salleh are more romantic, respectful of woman and treat them as an equal. They are also more thoughtful and are generous with their public display of affection.  My aunt married a British. On their 30th wedding anniversary, her husband got up early and bought her a bouquet of flower and a card. Such a simple gesture but not many man can do that. Even after 30 years of marriage, they still hold hands when they walked.  I'm not saying local man are not good enough. There are still good ones around. I think it all depends on how they were brought u...
